102 Fungal Species of the Wombat Forest
Thousands of species of fungi occur in the Wombat Forest. Many of these have not yet been formally described. Here is a selection of 102 species that you’re likely to encounter across various habitat types. Identifications have been made mainly only on field characteristics, hence this is not an authoritative guide. Australian fungal taxonomy is in a constant state of transition so many of the species names may also have synonyms.
The list includes both native and introduced species as well as a selection of lichenised fungi and myxomycetes (slime moulds). For further information or to suggest corrections with species identification, please contact alison@alisonpouliot.com. All images by Alison Pouliot www.alisonpouliot.com
